So What's Wrong?

25 Years Without a Permanent Capital

For 25 years, Uttarakhand has functioned without a permanent capital. Development has been heavily concentrated in Dehradun while hill districts remain underdeveloped. As a result, villages are emptying due to migration, and Dehradun has already exceeded its carrying capacity. Governance remains imbalanced, leaving the hills without the attention they deserve.

Who we are?

This movement was initiated by Sthai Rajdhani Gairsain Samiti, which was founded by former IAS officer Vinod Prasad Raturi in July, 2025, with the singular, resolute mission of establishing Gairsain as the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. This movement is not new, but with the creation of Sthai Rajdhani Gairsain Samiti, it is catching new wind.

What To Do?

The Solution to the stated problems is making Gairsain the permanent capital of Uttarakhand. Uttarakhand has been

a state with its soul in the mountains but its seat in the plains. The "explosion" of Dehradun is not a sign of progress.

It is a symptom of a broken system.
